What you Should Know About Rhinoplasty

Broken noses, deviated septums, and wide bridges are all reasons people stare into their mirrors and imagine their lives without telltale bumps, hooks, or twists in their noses. Some of these people will have their wishes come true. Surgical advances now allow the average person to have rhinoplasty without paying for an overnight hospital stay.

Rhinoplasty is cosmetic and/or reconstructive surgery to reshape the nose. If you think of drastic or dramatic facial changes when thinking of rhinoplasty, you are not alone, but most rhinoplasties are so skillfully executed that they are unnoticed.

Good rhinoplasty candidates are:

  • Non-smokers: Cigarette smoking interferes with oxygenating your surgical wounds.

  • Have reasonable expectations: Your goals should be based on your bone structure and what your surgeon’s suggestions.

Some rhinoplasty websites like , offer prepared questionnaires and checklists for patients to print and take with them to their cosmetic surgery consultation.

You may have your rhinoplasty at a free standing plastic surgery center, a day surgery center associated with a hospital or a traditional hospital. Rhinoplasty patients often go home after surgery without an overnight stay.
